In the United States, a training facility has been designed for the program located in Rancho Cordova, California. The certification courses will be during four days and have been in the planning process for over a year due to the amount of material involved. These programs are designed to give digital technicians the knowledge and experience needed to install Barco Digital Cinema Projectors.
According to Todd Hoddick, Vice President for Digital Cinema in Barco’s Media and Entertainment Division, “Digital cinema is a significant evolution in the entertainment industry, “ he adds, “This training program is an explicit, important investment, designed to grow relationships and help our customers succeed in their business with Barco technology.”

Courses for this certification include the following coursework; Introduction to Digital Cinema, Projector components, Specifying lamps, lenses, and projectors for the environment, Installation procedures, Communicator software, Upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance. For this training program, the facility in Rancho Cordova, California is a re-creation of a theater environment that would be necessary to give learners the chance to install lamps and work with other theater applications, but most importantly the professional installation and maintenance of Barco Digital Cinema Projectors. Iversen said, “By the time students complete certification,” he adds, “they have all the knowledge and practical experience they need to successfully install and maintain Barco Digital Cinema Projectors.” The certifications are challenging to obtain and those learning must know projector troubleshooting for digital cinema systems.
