Tampa’s Planetarium Uses Projection Technology

On July 12, 2008, at the new Saunders Planetarium, guests will be able to use the “GOTO Space Simulator Chronos projection system” to explore the night sky. The planetarium cost $1 million dollars to upgrade and features a new projection dome, high-resolution video projection system, and seating arrangement. The GOTO Space Simulator Chronos projection system looks at 8,500 stars including major planets, nebulae, and galaxies. In less than 20 seconds, the Chronos projector can recreate the sky in the past, present, and future from anywhere on the planet.
