Vivitek D220MX Projector Review

D220MX

In this review of the Vivitek D220MX, the reviewer starts by giving a short description of the time he spent in an army cantonment when they used a huge white cloth-screen with a projector. At dusk, after ‘roll-call’, a feature film was screened. Apparently, the projector was a small one similar to the D220MX, which has recently been released in India. The Vivitek D220MX is 195mm x 162mm x 53mm, and weights around 900 grams, and has a ‘front IR receiver’ and a ventilation area. To the rear of the device there is a power-in socket, ‘rear IR reciever’, and interfaces that include a mini USB, mini audio-in jack, video/s-svideo and DVI-I, with a safe-guarding Kingston cable lock feature. According to the reviewer, “Setting up the projector is easy. Just connect the projector with the suitable cable to your laptop/PC or DVD player and it will detect the source on its own as you power it ON.” The projector has a 1024 X 768 native resolution that is scalable to 1280 X 1024 and emits 1,600 Lumens. “I connected it (Vivitek) with my laptop and ‘Teac’ music system and tried a couple of Hindi film DVDs. My living room became a mini Cineplex. The projected images on the mauve-colour wall of my living room were quite large (almost 12 feet despite the limitation of space) and free from any jitters and pixilation. These lifelike image colors were produced due to the use of CEP (Colour Evolution Processing) technology developed by Vivitek. CEP elevates the color performance via unique techniques and algorithms,” stated the reviewer. This projector can either be used for home theater purposes, or even for traveling business.
