Texas Instruments Makes Predictions about Mobile Projectors

Texas Instruments (TI) has recently made a prediction about handheld and mobile projectors due to the reviews and successes of the products such as hand-set built-in cameras. The market for these products is more than likely due to the mobility involved; instead of viewing data on a smaller screen, a projected image on a flat surface can scale the image dramatically, even to WUXGA resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. According to John Van Scoter, “their popularity will grow fast in the next five to 10 years,” he added that “some clients are already developing products based on TI’s solutions for handheld and mobile projection, and products are expected to hit the market in the second half of the year.” In February of 2008, Texas Instruments announced that the new DLP Pico chipset would be available and it could it into a mobile device.
