BenQ W5000 Projector Review

BenQ

The BenQ W5000 projector is for serious home theater use and has been recommended by numerous reviewers on several occasions; once again it makes the grade. The projector has Brilliant Color technology that is supported by 4:4:4 colour sampling which handles each color signal individually. In addition to this there are two HDMIs, BNC, and RCA, component video inputs, PC inputs, a 12V trigger jack, and an RS-232 port for external system control. Downsides to this are that the HDMIs are only built to the v1.2 spec, not the latest v1.3. According to the reviewer, with regard to the features available, “There are further tweaks available for the picture’s gamma levels, overscanning (make sure this is set to zero for HD viewing), and clarity, the latter being based on altering the picture’s luma and chroma transmission.” Also included in this analysis by the reviewer is the “pitch blackness” during scenes of Apocalypto on Blu-ray, “During Apocalypto, for instance, you can’t just make out every leaf on every tree. You can make out every vein of every leaf on every tree, not to mention the individual pores on faces and bodies during extreme close-ups.” The verdict on this projector is that it’s quite the bargain when it comes to projectors, and is a cut above the competition.
