DLP Projector Technology Primer

DLP

If you have been following the progress of DLP, you will notice that recently the question of which one is better keeps resurfacing; which one is better, DLP or 3LCD? The problem is that both technologies utilize very important features which we should take into consideration. However, if you believe that DLP is your choice, then we will give you some insight into this technology. Don’t let us stray your opinion towards DLP, but keep all of these concepts in mind when looking for a projector. First off, DLP is an optical semiconductor that was invented by Dr. Larry Hornbeck of Texas Instruments in 1987, which contains an “array of up to 2 million hinge-mounted microscopic mirrors,” each of which is less than one-fifth the width of a human hair. The micromirrors will either tilt towards the light, which is ‘on’ or away from the light, which is ‘off.’ In this sense they can add color using a filtering system that adds light into red, green, and blue. These projectors are capable of very high image quality and can produce stunning images, both moving and still.
