Today, IMAX reached a deal with the Art Science Cinema Distribution where they would be able to install digital projection systems located in various Russian cities; namely Sochi, Nizinhy Novogorod, and Novosibirsk. IMAX is a leader in digital entertainment and theatrical distribution, delivering the most up-to-date entertainment technology. According to IMAX Co-Chairmen, “Exhibitor interest in our new digital theatre system in both domestic and international markets has been very strong and we are delighted that part of this interest is coming from Russia.” The IMAX projection system dramatically reduces the high cost of film prints, and increases flexibility. The system will be able to show IMAX documentaries, and will also be capable of IMAX 3D. The system is to be installed between 2009 and 2011.
