Digital Full Dome Planetarium at Stardome Observatory

Digital Full Dome Planetarium at Stardome Observatory

A recent upgrade at the Stardome Observatory will mean dramatic realism and breathtaking imagery for observers interested in the stars. The Observatory doors open on Tuesday, April 1st to the public and will remain open until further notice. Using Sony SXRD projectors, the images will provide 13 million pixels that utilize the latest in display technology. This upgrade is not only important to Stardome Observatory, but to the scientific community as a whole, due to the fact that other planetariums around the world will be interested in this technology and will follow suit with comparable technology. Projectors such as the ones used at Stardome, will be capable of mapping the universe in 3D, which is quite the amazing feat. Located in New Zealand, Stardome delivers entertainment to over 60,000 visitors every year, they also include school programs for students who are interested in learning about the wonders of science and technology.

The websites http://www.njaa.org/ and http://www.funnj.com/leisure/planet/ will give you information on various Planetariums and Observatories. They should also have projectors very similar to what they have at the Stardome.
