Hi-Can High Fidelity Canopy Bed: All the Comforts of Home

You may have read about the Starry Night Bed that all the comforts of home in your bed. Recently, a High Fidelity Canopy bed, also called Hi-Can, is the latest and greatest design to turn your bed into a home theater. The bed has blinds that can enclose someone for a distraction free sleep. It also comes with a state-of-the-art sound system, dimming reading lights, and a built-in PC. The PC is connected to a projector and allows you to view movies and other images on a screen that comes down at the foot of the bed. The bed is controlled from a control panel located on the headboard. The Hi-Can is also able to connect to other electronics in your bed and control them through the panel. The PC can also connect to the internet. The Hi-Can is currently a concept design. However, They are planning to manufacturer the Hi-Can sometime soon.

Pico Projectors are Coming

Young Optics Incorporated has recently announced that they will be shipping Pico Projector either at the end of this quarter or the beginning of the next quarter. The device has been fitted with Texas Instruments’ Technology. The lamp for these products will be an LED lamp and they will be able to display 7 ANSI lumens of brightness. The projectors will also have a DLP display chip. The devices are also expected to run with only 1 watt of energy. Unfortunately there is no information yet about the product’s name or price.

Radio City Home Theater with Twist

Here is an odd design for a home theater. The architect was inspired to make this room based off of New York’s Radio city and 2001: Space Odyssey. The walls, ceiling and floor have been surfaced with orange foam which helps with acoustics. The orange arches also have 600, 5 watt bulbs which allow viewers to see where each step is. The lights also have dimer switches in the back of the room for when the movie is being showed.

Epson PowerLite 83+ and 822+ Projectors

Epson has announced two new projectors that will be joining their US product line, the PowerLite 83+ and PowerLite 822+. Both projectors feature XGA (1024 x 768) resolution and 3LCD display technology. They both also come with a 10 watt speaker and a 30 degree keystone adjustment. Both models are going to be replacing their respective older models, Powerlite 83c and Powerlite 822c. They also were designed for the classrooms and other educational purposes. One of the main features Epson is displaying is the Built-in closed caption decoder. This feature allows the projector to display what is being said on the screen. This feature was integrated into the projector for mainly so that deaf kids can view the movie as easily as the rest of their class. The 83+ also features 2200 ANSI lumens and will sell for $899, and the 822+ has 2600 ANSI lumens and will sell for $949.

3LCD Displays Wins Again

3LCD has alwas been one of the best display types you can get in a projector. Using three liquid crystal display panels (LCD) a projector can show high definition pictures and other images. 3LCD offers bright, high quality images. The technology also reduces some of the major problems older LCD projector would have including the “screen door effect.” Recently it has been announced that 3LCD displays have become the leading display type for 2007. This marks the 19th straight year that 3LCD technology has been on top of the market. More and more leading manufacturers have been designing and releasing projectors with 3LCD displays integrated into them.

Flat-Screen vs Projector; Compare Before Choosing

In his recent list of answers Einstein was asked if a home theater projector would be better than a flat-screen TV. The questioner was looking to view HD television and was wondering if a bigger picture from a projector would be better than an HD flat-screen could provide. Einstein was able to answer the person by telling him that tporjectors are really nice to have, but only if you have the money to pay for it. He recommended that the questioner should look around some electronic stores and compare the specifications between flat-screens and projectors in order to make a good decision.

Epson EMP-TW2000 Projector Released in Middle East

Recently, Epson announced that their EMP-TW2000 projector will be available to purchase in the Middle East. The TW2000 features 1600 ANSI lumens and a 50000:1 contrast ratio. It has 3LCD display technology and displays images with full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. It also comes with a variety of connections including two HDMI, component, composite, s-video, and RGB input connections. It also comes with a 3 year warranty and retails for about $4000.
