Four Projectors Reviews in One

Incase reading about one projector review wasn’t enough, the reviewers from WIRED reviewed four HD (1920 x 1080) resolution projectors in the same article. The main reason for this was to show that the readers don’t have to spend $10000 for a high quality projector. First the Mitsubishi HC4900 ($3000) features 1000 ANSI lumens and a 7500:1 contrast ratio. This projector excelled with smooth iris adjustment and motorized image adjustments. They didn’t like its lack of color adjustments and they thought the black levels weren’t as deep as they could be. Next was the Sony VPL-VW60 ($5000) with 900 ANSI lumens and a 35000:1 contrast ratio. This model had excellent image detail. The easy remote and chassis makes this projector worth the price. The major complaint about this model was that there was no noise reduction. The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080 UB ($3000) was next on the list with 1600 ANSI lumens and a 50000:1 contrast ratio. This was a blast for the WIRED reviewers because it was easy to install and even came with its own ceiling mount. The images and color were impressive even in bright daylight. The main problem however, was the noise and clunky remote design. Last on the list was the Sanyo PLV-Z2000 ($3000) that features 12000 ANSI lumens and a 15000:1 contrast ratio. The manual image shift for this model made it incredibly simple to adjust. However, this model had the most problems. They said, “Case looks like love child of Xbox and toaster oven. Gimmicky motorized lens door is certain to break. Fan buzz is more irritating than watching the collective works of Uwe Boll.”
