Yesterday I wrote about the new Explay oio companion projector. Today we received the official news release from Explay. This candy bar sized projector is one of the first projectors of its kind to hit the market. The oio uses laser and LED light sources that combines to give the projector an always in focus image. Explay plans to unveil this masterpiece at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona February 11th-14th. Explay’s CEO Daniel Oleiski had this to say, “Explay led the way in mobile projection technologies and was the first to deliver a companion mobile projector. Explay unveils the new oio companion

Tel Aviv, Israel, February 6th 2008, — Explay, an Israeli technology company specializing in the development of miniature mobile projectors, will unveil, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the new version of the oio  companion, a stand alone battery operated projector that connects to mobile devices.

The oio companion is based on Explay’s proprietary mobile projection technology that provides a big screen experience. Mobile device users will no longer need to hunch over their two-inch screen. The oio companion uses a hybrid Laser and LED light sources, and a micro-display. This unique technology makes the oio companion the only product in the mobile projection space that combines class 1 eye safety and always in focus features, low power consumption, an affordable price, and a speckle free image; all of this is  packed into a compact device the size of a  standard “candy bar”  phone.

The market for mobile projection will be composed of companion projectors and embedded projectors. Explay’s technology serves both markets with customization flexibility per customer. Industry analysts and other mobile projection players are now validating Explay’s long standing conviction that the companion market will be the first to develop.

Based on customer feedback in numerous evaluations, Explay took special care to further improve the user experience by implementing a unique industrial  design from the engine to the companion level that delivers superior ergonomics both in hand held projection as well as table top projection scenarios.
