You may of read about planetarium projector systems on this site before, but Digitarium Education Solutions Inc has just announced their new product the Digitarium Gamma Digital Planetarium System. This system uses a high quality DLP projector and combines it with a proprietary fisheye lens and connects it to a specialized computer control unit. The projector used for this system features a 2100:1 contrast ratio and is able to project a 1050p diameter circle over a full dome. This system was designed with schools and portable planetariums in mind and presenters can display the sky of any place on the earth. It also offers zoom ability and can all be controlled by a backlight remote control. The price for one of these systems will range between $36200 and $38000, depending on portability. They also offer a smaller version for $20000 but it does not have the same quality that the bigger versions have.
