Panasonic PT-AE2000E Projector Review

Monday, December 31st, 2007

ptae2000_a1.jpg

The Panasonic PT-AE2000E projector is an ideal first level model. With HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and a 16000:1 contrast this projector displays excellent detail and deep rich color. The reviewers at Cnet.com had the chance to review the PT-AE2000E, and there were mixed feelings. They loved the black levels, lens shift, and especially the connectivity of the 3 HDMI inputs. However, they thought that the red and green colors were a little off. They also didn’t like the 1600 ANSI lumens this model has. They thought it wasn’t bright enough to do anything that required a big screen. In the end they though, “The Panasonic PT-AE2000 1080p projector is a credible performer, especially when you consider its excellent shadow details.”

CES is one of the biggest electronic conventions that are held each year. Soon (January 7 - 10), CES will be open in Las Vegas, Nevada. At booth #26629 you will find the Elite Screens Inc. They will be bringing a variety of screen to display. The CineTension2 is a transparent screen that is light enough to have speakers mounted behind the screen. The screen is perforated and doesn’t muffle the sound coming from the speakers. Another product on display is their HOME2 series. These screens have fiber optics and a black backing that allows for a greater viewing angle and sharper images. These screens have the option to come in either white or gray matt and can either be mounted on the wall or hung from the ceiling. Lastly Elite Screens Inc has announced that they have designed an in-ceiling installation kit. The VMAX2 installation kit is able to support any VMAX2 projection screen and hides the screen just above the ceiling and keeps it from ruining the look of the room, when not in use. There is no word if the VMAX2 installation kit will be displayed at CES.

Playing Games on the Big Screen

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

timeplay_a1.jpg

TimePlay Entertainment Inc is a, Toronto based, Canadian gaming company. They have developed a series of video games that can be played on movie theater screens. This technology is currently being used in parts of Britain and Spain. How these games work is really simple. The movie theater downloads the games they wish to show through an internet connection. From there, the game is shown on the screen. The seats will be equipped with state-of-the-art touch screen controllers. Some of the games that are currently being played include trivia games, casino games, puzzles, and card games. The audience has the options to play as individuals, teams, or even play against another room. The reason why this technology hasn’t come over to the Americas is because a lot of these games currently include gambling, and it’s easier to get a license in Europe. TimePlay Entertainment Inc intends to start bringing some of these games to Canada sometime in the near future.
