Movie cinemas today are going digital if they aren’t already there, and Sony’s newest SXRD (Silicon Crystal Reflective Display) SRX-R220 projector makes digital cinema even sweeter. Touting it’s 4k resolution (4096 x 2160), it offers over four times the resolution of current 1080p projectors, making pictures sharp and clear. The SRX-220 is able to project on screens over 55 feet wide thanks to its 4kW Xenon lamp which pumps out 18,000 lumens. Sony has had great success with their previous 4k models, the SRX-R105 and SRX-R110, so this new one should be off to a good start. Initial pricing is estimated at well over $100,000 so you probably won’t be seeing this in your home anytime soon.
