New Planar Xscreen Designed for Bright Environments

The biggest problem with daytime home cinema projection is limiting the amount of ambient light in the projection environment. Too much ambient light will wash out a picture, making it unwatchable and is one of the weak points of home cinema projection. However, Planar released their new Xscreen which will apparently display projected images even in brightly lit rooms. The Xscreen and the Xscreen plus range from 60 to 100 inch screens, with the plus offering several inputs and a video processor to enhance the home cinema experience. The secret to the success of the Xscreen is a thin pane of 4mm thick glass in the screen that only reflects light from the projector. While you can get these now, they’ll also be displayed at CEDIA in September.
