Mitsubishi to Display 1080p HC5000U at CEDIA

Mitsubishi HC3000U LCD Projector

Mitsubishi confirmed that they will be displaying the first of their next generation 1080p home cinema projectors, the HC5000, at CEDIA in September. The HC5000 will be using three 1080p LCD display panels, and will have a contrast ratio of 10000:1 as well as a lamp life of 5000 hours. While details remain sparse for this new projector, it is highly anticipated by home theater enthusiasts because of its expected relatively low cost for a 1080p projector, and in turn, will set a new standard for low-cost 1080p home cinema projectors.

Also noted for the European market is the anticipated release of a low-cost Mitsubishi HC1100 720p projector. While details on this upcoming home cinema projector are also sparse, it is expected to be comparable to the HC3000 (pictured above) and at a price of ~$2100 USD. Both of these new projectors will be using Mitsubishi’s same popular chassis with the centered lens design; which makes mounting and positioning the projector much easier. We’ll keep you posted on any more details of these projectors, and we can expect similar announcements from other manufacturers shortly.
