Thursday, July 27th, 2006
Canon LV-7575 LCD Projector

The United Kingdom will be recieving a very bright LCD digital projector shortly. The Canon LV-7575 will be released probably within the next two quarters, and Canon has confirmed that the LV-7575 will have a 5500 ANSI Lumens brightness rating, a 800:1 contrast ratio, and a native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution. The LV-7575 will also have four different lens options to choose from, ranging from short-throw lenses to long-throw lenses. The LV-7575 will be replacing the LV-7565, which means that there is a strong possibility that it will be shipped worldwide. We’ll find out shortly, as Canon is expected to release more details in coming weeks, hopefully with an MSRP and an official release date.

Mitsubishi to Display 1080p HC5000U at CEDIA

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006
Mitsubishi HC3000U LCD Projector

Mitsubishi confirmed that they will be displaying the first of their next generation 1080p home cinema projectors, the HC5000, at CEDIA in September. The HC5000 will be using three 1080p LCD display panels, and will have a contrast ratio of 10000:1 as well as a lamp life of 5000 hours. While details remain sparse for this new projector, it is highly anticipated by home theater enthusiasts because of its expected relatively low cost for a 1080p projector, and in turn, will set a new standard for low-cost 1080p home cinema projectors.

Also noted for the European market is the anticipated release of a low-cost Mitsubishi HC1100 720p projector. While details on this upcoming home cinema projector are also sparse, it is expected to be comparable to the HC3000 (pictured above) and at a price of ~$2100 USD. Both of these new projectors will be using Mitsubishi’s same popular chassis with the centered lens design; which makes mounting and positioning the projector much easier. We’ll keep you posted on any more details of these projectors, and we can expect similar announcements from other manufacturers shortly.

Sanyo Announces New Ultra-Short Throw Projector

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006
Sanyo LP-XL40 LCD Projector

Sanyo announced their new LP-XL40 ultra-short throw LCD projector today, adding to their line of projectors designed for office and educational use. The unusually large lens allows for 30 inch screen to be projected from 2.4 feet away, with a maximum 80 inch screen from 3.4 feet away. This projector is designed to be perfect for crowded rooms where little space is available for projection. Because there isn’t much chance of image wash-out from the projector being so close to the screen, the 1500 ANSI lumens it projects is more than enough, and if an educator or professional is worried about someone walking off with their projector, there will be a bright orange version of it, the PLC-XE40, available with a built-in alarm. You can expect to see the LP-XL40 in Japan in October before it goes worldwide, and the PLC-XE40 will be available shortly in the United Kingdom before also going worldwide.

Epson Releases Two New Home Cinema Projectors

Monday, July 17th, 2006
Epson EMP-TW600 LCD Projector

Epson released two new LCD Home Cinema projectors for the Middle East today. The EMP-TW520 and EMP-TW600 offer some interesting specifications with their coming to the market. The EMP-TW520 WXGA (1280 x 720) projector offers a brightness of 1400 ANSI Lumens and an amazingly high contrast ratio of 4000:1; while the EMP-TW600 WXGA (1280 x 720) projector trumps it with its 1600 ANSI Lumens and 5000:1 contrast ratio. Still, both hum quietly at 26 dB and carry a three year warranty, making them both exceptional projectors. If you are building a luxury vacation home on one of Dubai’s Palm Islands, you might want to talk to your contractor to add a home cinema with one of these in it. Of course, you can also get these home cinema projectors in the United Kingdom and Ireland as well as some parts of Asia.

Sim2 Releases Three New HD Projectors

Friday, July 14th, 2006
Sim2 D35 and HT305E DLP Projectors

Sim2 will make you re-think going to your local cinema with three new High-Definition DLP Home Cinema Projectors being released today. The first two, the D35 and HT305 E, are sporting a 720p native resolutions and contrast ratios above 3000:1. However, the other projector released, the HT3000, is offering a native resolution of (1920 x 1200), allowing for both 1080p High-Definition content and computer UXGA (1600 x 1200) content without scaling. While being able to watch the next generation of High-Definition content and browsing the internet on the same projector with ease is exciting, the price tags reflect the absolute high-end Home Cinema Sim2 has to offer. The HT3000 will most likely set you back at least $22,000 USD, while the D35 and HT305E is estimated to only set you back $5,500 and $9,200 USD, respectively.

Authentic ASS-60AK Speaker Screen

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006
Authentic ASS-60AK Speaker Screen

While many projectors themselves have integrated stereo or monoaural speakers, projection screens that are speakers are very unusual indeed. The Authentic ASS-60AK Speaker Screen is made from a fabric called Teonex and uses NXT’s SoundVu technology to create sound through vibrations in the fabric. These vibrations are undetectable to the human eye, so the picture quality is undisturbed throughout a presentation. After the presentation, the screen can be rolled up and put into a carrying case for high portability.

While details of the specifications on the screen remain unpublished, we know that the screen will be available in Japan on July 21st for approximately $520 USD.

ELMO’s New EDP-XD205R DLP Projector Enters the Market

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006
ELMO EDP-XD205R DLP Projector

ELMO, known for their popular presentation products in offices, schools, and elsewhere, will be selling their newest DLP projector, the EDP-XD205R, in Japan next week. A lot of large numbers seem to follow this XGA (1024 x 768) native resolution projector. Showing a brightness of 2000 ANSI lumens and a 2000:1 contrast ratio with a maximum screen size of 300 inches, there are nothing but nice large numbers here. There is one number that isn’t particularly large compared to the others though; the price, approximately $2699 USD is very well-placed for the kind of hardware this projector is sporting. Unfortunately, there is no word yet of when or if this projector will make it outside of the Land of the Rising Sun.

Infocus Announces Work Big IN42 LCD Projector

Tuesday, July 11th, 2006
Infocus Work Big IN42

Infocus issued a press release today confirming that the Work Big IN42 was going to be released sometime at the end of 2006. Another impressive projector from them, built on the successful LP840, the IN42 LCD projector has a brightness rating of 3500 ANSI Lumens and a native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution. While it is built for use in bright rooms, the high brightness of the projector doesn’t have a bearing on the 3000 hour lamp life, and the projector fan that keeps the projector cool clocks in at a quiet 32 dB. Infocus also keeps their history of modest pricing as well; giving the IN42 a MSRP of $3299 USD.
